HOW RECYCLING HELPS OTHERS
As you know from our previous posts, here at the Forge, we are very focused on being as green a business as possible. If you missed our previous posts on the subject, you can read about our green goals here and how our green credentials contributed to our Richmond Business Award win here.
We work with First Mile to get our recycling sorted. They are a great London based business who we are happy to recommend as efficient and easy to work with.
We are also proud of our connection with them for another reason. At the Forge, we believe it is important to be involved in the world beyond your business – this is why we support a local charity and support other local small businesses. First Mile takes this idea one step further by donating to Small Steps on behalf of the customer every year.
Small Steps works with children and families around the world who live on rubbish dumps and survive through scavenging. They provide hygiene kits, shoes and aid as an immediate solutions and then work on small steps to get the children into education, which is a vital part of changing their future.
Last year the money raised by First Mile went into an outreach project in Cambodia. For 6 days every week, this outreach centre provides advice for parents in finding work outside the dump and the children are able to attend nursery and art lessons.
We are very proud to have played even a small part in helping this charity through our work with First Mile. We look forward to hearing what other projects their donations have funded this year.
