All too often, we hear people saying that they feel it’s “too late”. We use “too late” as an excuse for lots of things – from not signing up for that course, to not changing career and – all too often – not taking up exercise.

Here at the Forge, we don’t believe there’s any such thing as ‘too late’. We are constantly looking for new challenges and new things to try. Exercise, in particular, is definitely not something that it is ever too late to take up! From getting a dog and committing to daily walks to signing up for a triathlon – you can start at any time!

Still don’t believe us? Here’s some inspiration for you:

Edna is 97 and still hits the gym regularly. Click here to see her in action and we guarantee you’ll be inspired. Edna’s top tip? “Never let yourself get weak.” What a woman!

And as if Edna wasn’t inspiration enough, check out this video of 93-year-old yoga instructor Tao. She can pull off arm balances that even some of the yoga devotees on our team struggle with!

Here are our tips for giving yourself the push you need to make the changes you’ve been dreaming of:

  • Surround yourself with inspiration. Whenever doubts creep in, think of Tao and Edna. If they can do it, so can you!
  • Be informed. Before embarking on a new form of exercise – get yourself an MOT! This way you can get all the advice you need and the reassurance that you’re ok to get going. This goes for everything else too – find out all about a course before signing up or check out a holiday company before booking.
  • Take the first step. The first step is always the hardest because it’s all completely unknown. Reassure yourself that it will never be as difficult as this first step – and then take it!
  • Take regular care. While having an MOT is great before starting, try to ensure that you see someone regularly in order to ensure that you are always in the best shape possible.
