PregnancyOne of the most common complaints for pregnant women is back pain, particularly in the lower back and pelvis.

Here at the Forge, we offer a lot of treatment for pregnant and post-natal women. There’s pregnancy massage with Giuliana Newman while you’re pregnant and massage is also a great relief for nursing mothers. Physiotherapist Amandine Valentin – and Renata Recarey, when she returns from her own maternity leave – offer specialised pre- and post-natal care, as does osteopath Stephanie James.

But this by no means excludes chiropractic treatment.

Chiropractic treatment is completely safe for pregnant women and, as our chiropractor Jean Luc Lafitte has children himself, he understands the concerns of mums-to-be.

Pregnancy adjusts your posture, as it accommodates your bump, and this change can cause pain in the lower back. Chiropractic treatment aims to relieve this discomfort and make it easier to go about your daily life while you are pregnant.

You can also have chiropractic treatment after birth. We recommend that you have treatment as soon as you begin to feel pain or discomfort because we don’t believe it’s something you should just live with! However, some women think that the pain is simply part and parcel of pregnancy and don’t have any treatment. This sometimes means that they still sfuffer back pain after the birth.

Chiropractic treatment can help correct what has been thrown out of alignment by pregnancy so that you can enjoy the first months of your baby’s life without worrying about being in pain all the time. Many women who have treatment after their first pregnancy come back for support through their successive pregnancies.

Jean Luc is available on Wednesdays and Fridays. To book an appointment with him, you can call 020 8332 6184; email or book online.
