No two people are alike – thank goodness! – so it’s natural that lots of us don’t enjoy traditional exercise. While some people thrive on competitions, running and regular gym sessions, other people can’t imagine anything worse!
The trick to leading a healthy life is to find something you enjoy. For some people, this is as simple as long dog walks, for others it’s all about hula hooping. You know we like to give you ideas for new things to try, so that we can help you find the activity that is just right for you.
This week we’re talking tap dancing.
If you prefer creative pursuits over the numbers centric attainment of a PB on the treadmill, dancing could be for you. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that tap dancing is for young children – tap dancing classes are filled with people of all ages, so you won’t feel left out and it’s a great way to meet people that you wouldn’t normally come across.
The most obvious thing that tap dancing is good for is your legs. If you’re after a work out that really targets your legs, this could be the one for you! It’s also a great cardio workout as all that bouncing around gets your heart rate right up! It’s also a portable hobby – so you could take one class a week, but practice every day for your daily work out boost.
Tap dancing demands concentration to master the individual moves and to memorise longer routines – so your brain will get a work out too!
