THE BENEFITS OF DANCE
If you’re anything like us here at the Forge, you’re feeling pretty bored of the endless grey drizzly days and are looking for a way to brighten them up. Today, one of our massage therapists, Giuliana Newman, explains why dancing could be just what you’re looking for!
Dancing has huge benefits and has become increasingly popular with all age groups. It is a great way to get out, get moving and feel uplifted.
Dancing as a couple with designated moves has given people more confidence to give it a go and to learn a new skill . There is no need to take a partner along to a class or event, many go alone and you rarely dance with the same person twice, so it’s a great way to meet new people and make new friends!
Although it uses every muscle in your body and has many physical benefits, dancing doesn’t feel like exercise and is great fun.
Here are some of the key benefits of dance:
- It increases your heart rate.
- Burns fat.
- Increases co-ordination and balance.
- Increases muscle strength and endurance.
- It is very motivating and gives you stamina.
- It is a great way to reduce stress and give you a healthy new hobby to enjoy.
Apart from giving a sense of wellbeing and increase your self esteem, it is a very sociable activity which creates an opportunity to make new friends.
Giuliana recommends Ceroc Modern jive which is held at numerous venues. Join for a beginners class and when you improve enjoy the frequent freestyle evenings which enable you to dance all night.
Warning: It can be addictive!
Giuliana is available on Mondays, Wednesdays and alternate Saturdays. If you would like to book an appointment with her, please call, email or book online.
