Massage Therapy
WHAT IS MASSAGE THERAPY
Massage therapy is one of the oldest forms of therapeutic treatment in the world. It has been used by many cultures for hundreds of years and is considered to be an effective form of alternative medicine in the treatment of pain and improving range of movement.
Massage therapy is the manual manipulation of the soft tissues including muscles and fascia to improve a person’s health and wellbeing. As part of the recovery process, massage therapy can help create positive physiological and psychological changes following physical trauma, accident or surgery. It can be beneficial in chronic pain management of all areas of the body.
At The Forge Clinic, Richmond we offer many different types of massage therapies and when treatment is performed by a trained massage professional, it can provide positive results and will focus on moving towards optimum health and wellbeing. Massage therapy can help with the treatment of pain and stress management. Research also shows it has good results in helping the body rehabilitate after a sports injury or operation.
Each treatment is tailored by our massage therapist towards your own circumstances and what you are trying to achieve, be that less pain, a greater range of movement or reduction in stress. This can incorporate trigger point therapy, myofascial release, deep tissue or sports massage and targeted stretches. The type of massage therapy will depend on your clinical assessment and treatment plan which will be discussed in detail before treatment begins.

What a relief to find someone who is a very skilled practitioner in Reflexology and offers a treatment that is so much more than just a foot massage. My sessions with Giuliana have proved to be an excellent investment in my well-being. They have alleviated stress and guaranteed a good night’s sleep

Naomi is a really lovely massage therapist who instantly puts you at ease. She understood my aches and pains and remembered them on subsequent visits. Naomi gave me some great tips as to how to work on my specific problem areas (tight ham strings and hip flexors) and after a massage session with her my legs felt so much lighter!

Great sports massage, just enough pressure to be therapeutic without being overly painful. My muscles feel much looser and less painful afterwards. I will definitely rebook for another massage.
