NUTRITIONAL THERAPY

WHAT IS NUTRITIONAL THERAPY

Nutritional Therapy is the application of nutritional science for the promotion of health, peak performance and individual care.

Our Nutritional Therapist uses dietary adjustments and lifestyle changes to improve health and wellbeing. By analysing your diet and eating habits she can ensure you choose the foods which are best for you and your needs.

Julie Deeks, is a member of BANT, the professional body for Registered Nutritional Therapists. BANT registered Nutritional Therapists work in preventive and personalised medicine and support the optimisation of physical and mental health in treating chronic diseases. This is carried out in a functional medicine framework, focusing on the patient and their symptoms and getting to the root of the problem, which allows the practitioner to support and encourage changes necessary for recovery.

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM NUTRITIONAL THERAPY?

Nutritional Therapy is suitable for everyone. A full medical history is always taken to ensure that named diseases and pharmaceutical drugs are taken into consideration to avoid contraindications and unsafe practice.

Julie can help those newly diagnosed with medical conditions to provide better nutritional support and help combat possible side effects of their medication. She aims to offer an integrated approach to health and works alongside other practitioners when appropriate.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF NUTRITIONAL THERAPY?

The main benefit of Nutritional Therapy is being given a rationale for your symptoms, a natural way forward and a clear understanding of why you need to make the suggested changes. It can be a real education understanding more about your physiology and how food and stress affect how you function. Often the changes that need to be made are subtle, but very powerful.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM MY NUTRITIONAL THERAPY APPOINTMENT?

Before seeing Julie you will be required to complete a dietary and health questionnaire. This allows for full research to be carried out on your condition, symptoms and goals, in preparation for your consultation.

During your confidential initial consultation you will set yourself some achievable and measurable goals. If there is time, a zinc taste test and stomach acid test are carried out to assess mineral needs and digestion. Bio-impedance scales will be used to measure your body fat, muscle, metabolic age, hydration and visceral fat (fat that surrounds your vital organs). This is a great way to measure progress and can be very motivating.

You will take away an agreed plan of action, with dietary and lifestyle changes explained and tailored for your needs. Where appropriate a referral to other complimentary practitioners may be suggested. High-grade dietary supplements are often recommended, but they are not mandatory. All clients receive a 15% discount on their supplement programme.

There are many other tests available, from DNA testing and analysis, thyroid panel, food intolerance and auto-immune panels. Please ask Julie for more information.

Nutritional Therapy is suitable for anyone; however, it is recommended you discuss any dietary changes with your Doctor.

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

While everyone will have a different goal and symptoms, at least 2 appointments are recommended. Some patients continue to see Julie for ongoing support every three months for up to 18 months.

It should be noted that a programme should not be followed for longer than six weeks without informing your Nutritional Therapist.

The consultation will last up to 60 minutes. You will receive a summary of what is discussed, a supplement plan, and email and telephone support for one month following your appointment. Follow up appointments are recommended when there are changes in symptoms or new information relating to your health that can’t be supported over the phone or email.

All functional tests are charged separately at the retail price.

TESTIMONIALS

I am so pleased with the progress I have made in such a short space of time. Julie’s expert, tailored advice has really helped boost my own efforts to improve my energy levels through better nutrition. There is just so much conflicting advice out there and it’s hard to know what to pay attention to and what to ignore. I feel a lot more confident that I’m do the right things for me now and the results speak for themselves.

Sarah

Julie has been a knowledgeable, patient, concerned and motivating guide on what has been a long journey, without doubt, the best thing I have ever done for myself. Nutritional Therapy is an option that is definitely worth exploring.
