WHAT WE DO

HOW TO MANAGE YOUR SPORTS INJURY

For serious acute injuries, we advise you to go to your local A&E department.

If your injury is minor you can treat it yourself by:

– Over-the-counter painkillers may be suitable, such as paracetamol or ibuprofen to ease pain.
-Using PRICE for the first 48 to 72 hours to minimise damage and aid recovery.

PRICE stands for protection, rest, ice, compression and elevation.

Protection – stop the activity and protect the affected area from further injury
Rest – avoid physical activity and rest the affected joint or muscle.
Ice – apply an ice pack to the affected area for 15-20 minutes every two to three hours.
Compression – bandage the injured area firmly to limit swelling.
Elevation – raise the injured body part above heart level whenever possible.

HOW DO WE ASSESS AND DIAGNOSE SPORTS INJURIES?
