TACKLING INSOMNIA
Insomnia can quickly begin to take its toll. We have blogged before about getting a good night’s sleep, but insomnia goes way beyond the occasional night of tossing and turning.
If you are having real long-term trouble sleeping, we suggest seeing your GP as soon as possible. If your sleeplessness is caused by stress, anxiety or depression, they can help you.
The Forge can also help you. As insomnia is often caused by stress and anxiety, we recommend seeing one of our massage therapists as regularly as you can. A good sports massage can work out all the tensions in your body to help you unwind and relax. Over time this could have a positive knock-on effect on your ability to relax and switch off at night.

Another option is hypnotherapy with Jean Luc Lafitte. He can help you work through whatever is troubling you and preventing you sleeping well. He can also teach you techniques that you can use at home to help you doze off.
We also recommend putting in place a regular, calming night time routine. An hour before you go to bed, turn off the TV, put your phone away and start your routine. This could be a bath with lavender oil or a warm shower. You could then do some gentle stretching or read a book. Try and make this a nightly ritual so that your mind recognises it is time to slow down, switch off and get ready to sleep.
