This Sunday, the ladies of the Forge ran the Race for Life 5k in Old Deer Park to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

We set ourselves a target of £500 and are delighted to say we exceeded our target – our total currently stands at £530! Thank you to all who donated and if you didn’t manage to sponsor us before the race, our Just Giving page is still open for donations and you can find it here.

The team was made up of a variety of ages and fitness levels – including Clinic Manager Vicky’s four year old daughter Evie, who managed to run the first 2.5k without stopping! Some of the team tore around the course and managed to finish in around 20 – 25 minutes. Others were a little slower – receptionist Nikki was hampered by too big a breakfast, she would recommend not eating a bacon and egg roll so close to the start of a race!

Vicky was even able to run the race, despite injuring her knee the week before. She has been seeing our osteopath, Alan Burke, for treatment ever since. By the end of the race she was singing his praises because she was able to job the whole thing, with no pain at all!

The whole team made it in in under 40mins, beating the rain and making it through in one piece, despite the uneven ground.
