SANTA RUNS 2014
Just because the days are getting shorter and colder, doesn’t mean there are no more challenges to be had! Christmas Runs are very popular at this time of year as a way to earn money for charities trying to go that little bit further to brighten someone’s winter.
If you’re looking to set yourself a challenge or take part in something to keep you motivated to train in poor weather, here are our suggestions.
Sport Kingston Fun Run
This 5k event takes place over two weekends – on Sunday 30th November in Bushy Park and on Sunday 14th December in Richmond Park. Entry is £12 for adults and includes a Santa Suit. Children under 12 can take part for £4 and get a free set of reindeer antlers, so this is definitely one the whole family could enjoy! The money raised goes to the Princess Alice Hospice. Santa Run, Victoria Park
With 5k and 10k options, with this run you could really challenge yourself. Taking place on Sunday 7th December, this race costs £22 to enter (including free Santa suit) and has a minimum sponsorship of £100. With a beautiful route, this is a tempting one!
Set up your own challenge!
If none of these runs appeal to you – why not set up your own? People are so much more willing to give and be a little silly at this time of year, so take advantage! Find a charity you really want to help and arrange a fundraiser to raise money for them. Plan a short run or take inspiration from school sports days to create a few fun events. Encourage participants to dress up for more of a giggle. Look for people to join in at work, at your child’s school, or among your friends. Let us know how you get on!
